Hi-viz Tuesday

Project Light and Space took another leap forward, as initial surveys were undertaken of some of some of the fabric that will be restored or conserved.

The Priory filled with hi-viz apparel as architects from Purcell met a stained glass window specialist at floor level, and more excitingly, ascending to Choir Vestry roof level to take a closer look at the Magnificat Window. They were also assessing the most appropriate way to do an in depth survey of the mediaeval stained glass, possibly by MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform, or cherry-picker) or by hi-resolution drone, in mid-April.

Outside a drone was already in action, taking advantage of a dry and relatively still day. Inch by inch, detailed photography was carried out of the tower stonework, so that the extent of the repairs required can be established.

There’ll be a full update of Project Light and Space progress, with a Q&A session, after the 10.30am service on 29th March. All are very welcome.

The Development phase of Project Light and Space is made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to players of The National Lottery. Thank you!
