Priory Super Saturday
What, you may ask, is a Priory Super Saturday? And a very good question, too, as Priory Super Saturdays are new!
Think ‘big welcome to all’ and you’d be spot on. There are exciting craft activities for youngsters, free tea, coffee and cake served with a smile, tours and tower tours, all laid on by the Priory’s amazing volunteers.
New, too, was the Lego Easter Story Trail. Lego characters share their part in the Easter story in bite-sized videos accessed via a QR code on smartphones. Hunting down all five videos in the right order was a challenge enthusiastically accepted by many youngsters. ‘Where’s number four?’ ‘I’ve found Mary. Quick. Here!’, followed by rapt attention as the story unfolded.
Musicians serenaded the visitors and Dave the donkey also proved very popular, as he awaited his starring role on Palm Sunday, temporarily ‘stabled’ in St Giles’ Chapel.
Outside, as the Priory basked in the bright spring sunshine, the Art and Craft Market filled the churchyard with visitors.
It was a wonderful beginning to a new Priory venture; the first of many.
