New beginnings
It was a day of new beginnings at the Priory, when two new junior choristers were admitted to the Priory Choir.
Presented to Roger, the vicar, by Piers, the Director of Music, they said their promises, clearly, and were joined by the whole Choir in the Choristers’ Prayer. With their new white collars, and the first (of many, no doubt) RSCM medals around their necks, the congregation welcomed them with a huge round of applause.
Roger also announced that Philippa Lowe would be the next Curate at the Priory, following her ordination on 29th June at Worcester Cathedral. Philippa’s been at the Priory for the last three years, whilst going first through selection, then formation at the Queen’s Foundation, in Birmingham. Claire Darnborough’s also a student at Queen’s, training to be a Licensed Lay Minister (sometimes known as a Reader).
After the service yet another new beginning was announced - it was Roger’s birthday, the beginning of a new year in his life, which was celebrated with a rousing rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ over coffee.
