Benedictines in the Priory

Have you noticed? Benedictines have returned to the Priory.

Not real monks, no, they’re at Mucknell Abbey.

The Priory’s new monks are teeny, tiny Benedictine monks. Ten of them, discreetly secreted in Priory nooks.

They’re there as part of the latest trail for younger visitors, or for those young at heart. Each one tells you a little about the life of the Benedictine monks who called Great Malvern Priory home from 1085 onwards.

By the lectern you’ll find Brother Wulfstan, reverently holding a copy of the Bible, and giving the first answer in the new trail. Walking round the Priory you’ll also meet Brothers Aldwyn, Peter, Hugh, David (with his spoon whittled from a coffee stirrer), Nicholas, Osbert and William and Prior Walcher, with his astrolabe.

Once you’ve completed the trail, don’t forget to pick up your small prize from the box under the welcome table.

Priory trails are free. They’re the ideal way to spend an hour or so in the welcoming warmth and dryness of the Priory during this rather soggy winter.

Come along and Hunt the Monks soon!
