Who are The Friends?

The Friends draw together all who love Malvern Priory. The Society has members who live overseas and throughout the UK as well as those who live locally.

Our mission is to:

  • promote knowledge and appreciation of the Priory

  • encourage people to form a personal link with the Priory

  • raise funds to help maintain, restore and enhance the Priory

To these ends, besides fund-raising and social events, the Friends are engaged in a variety of activities in the Priory.   These include:

  • publishing Priory guide books

  • running the Friends' Shop (volunteers help provide a welcome to the Priory's many visitors)

  • running regular guided tours

  • publicising events in the Priory

  • mounting events to generate appreciation and enjoyment of the Priory

Through their donations and subscriptions, all members have the privilege of contributing not only to the upkeep of the Priory's historic fabric, furnishings and adornment but also to enhancing it. To celebrate 2000 years of Christendom, for example, the Friends commissioned and funded the Friends' Millennium Windows. Read about and view this stunning contemporary Art project.

Since 2000, the Friends have made grants of over £350,000 to the Priory PCC towards a range of vital restoration projects.  Recently, we have committed £22,500 towards restoring the North Porch, the Priory's initial welcome to all who enter.

We invite you to increase your sense of enjoying, belonging to and supporting the Priory by becoming a member of the Friends. Members receive a range of benefits. You can join the Society here.
