Intercessions - 11/10

Creator God, we thank you for the signs all around us of your love and faithfulness: for the changing colours of autumn, the crops that have been harvested to provide our food, the rich patterns and diversity in your wonderful creation. Thank you that we can enjoy the beautiful open spaces of the hills, common-land and our own gardens. Please help us to show our love for You in the way we care for each other and for your world. Help us to be ready to share your good gifts.

Lord of all creation, hear our prayer.

God of wisdom, we pray for the parts of your world where people are hungry, and for all efforts to help them. We pray for the people of eastern Africa affected by swarms of locusts, and the millions of refugees in the Middle East. We ask that more world leaders will work together to tackle climate change. We thank you for farmers and pray they will be strong when times are hard. We pray for the work of the Farming Community Network, offering support and a listening ear. We pray that those in government will make wise decisions about the best way forward through Covid.

Lord of all creation, hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, we pray for your church throughout the world and ask for wise leadership in challenging times. Especially today we ask you to bless Jonny, newly ordained as priest, and Katie in the changes ahead. We pray for our children and young people who cannot meet in their groups at present. Bless their homes and families, their schools and teachers, and help them to know that you walk alongside them day by day.

Lord of all creation, hear our prayer.

God of love, we pray for our local community. We thank you for the work of the Food Bank, and pray for all who use it. We thank you for the work of the Lyttelton Well as it shows your loving care. We ask for your special blessing on Mary Wall and David Campbell in their wedding. We pray for your comfort and healing for those who, because of the virus, miss the close contact of family and friends, especially in times of sickness, anxiety or loss.  We think, too, of students who may be feeling far away from home. Help us to find new ways to show our love and care.

Lord of all creation, hear our prayer.

Father God, source of all life, you have given us so much. Help us to grow close to you so that we may always enjoy your gifts with thankful hearts, and look after and use them wisely. Hear our prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
