Holy Spirit, Relationships and Healing

Holy Spirit, bestowing life unto life

Holy Spirit, bestowing life unto life,
moving in All.
You are the root of all creatures,
washing away all impurity,
scouring guilt,
and anointing wounds.
Thus you are luminous and praiseworthy, Life,
awakening, and re-awakening all that is.
Hildegard von Bingen

We thank you, Lord, for your promise to the disciples to send a helper, an advocate and comforter in the person of the Holy Spirit. You knew that they would need strength to follow your commandments after you had ascended to heaven. We, today, are the heirs of that same promise – that, if we love one another as you love us, then we, too, will be filled with the Holy Spirit and live in you, as you live in us.

We pray for God to fill us with his Spirit.

Lord, come to bless us. Fill us with your Spirit.

Dear Lord, we thank you for the power of your Holy Spirit.

We ask that we may be strengthened to serve you better. Especially we pray for forbearance in the present time of lockdown in so many countries around the world. Please help us not only to endure this ordeal with restraint and self-control, but also to help others with the same patience and tolerance which you show towards us.

Lord, come to bless us. Fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the wisdom of your Holy Spirit.

Please send us the gift of discernment so that we can understand your will, and the gift of grace to accept it.

Lord, come to bless us. Fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the peaceof your Holy Spirit.

We ask you to keep us confident of your love, wherever you call us. Especially in times when we have doubts and fears for ourselves and others. Please help us to remember the many times in the Bible when we are reassured that, whatever the situation, you will protect and watch over those who believe and trust in you.

Lord, come to bless us. Fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the healing of your Holy Spirit.

We ask you to bring reconciliation and wholeness where there is division, sickness and sorrow. In a moment of quiet we think of those know to us who are unwell or convalescing, and all those known to us who have sadly died recently. Our thoughts and prayers are with anyone who has been affected by Covid19.

Lord, come to bless us. Fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the gifts of your Holy Spirit.

We ask you to equip us for the work which you have given us.

Lord, come to bless us. Fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the fruit of your Holy Spirit.

We ask you to reveal your love in our lives. Please help us to demonstrate these fruits of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control in a life of obedience to your commandments.

Lord, come to bless us. Fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the breath of your Holy Spirit, given by the risen Lord. We ask you to keep the whole Church, living and departed, in the joy of eternal life.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Amen.
