Intercessions - 14/06

Though separated from each other physically, let us pray together in the Spirit of our Risen Lord

Lord our God, Hear us as we seek to continue the Mission you gave to your first disciples – help us to discover that Mission, to listen to your voice and have courage to go where you lead us. Go forth and tell, O Church of God awake – may we be awake to your call.

Lord our God, Hear us as we try to follow your call to care for others – guide us as a church as we try to make your love known in action and word. Go forth and tell, God's love embraces all – may we welcome all and reach out to our neighbours.

Lord our God, we pray for our churches here in Malvern at this challenging time. Draw our Christian denominations closer together in your Love. Be with our clergy, Rod and Jonny, and all our church leaders, with our PCC and committees as they serve and seek to discover your will in all sorts of matters. Go forth and tell, the doors are open wide. We pray that our doors will soon be properly open wide. We are glad churches will start to open for private prayer but we pray that our society will be freer of infection, and that we can be physically together in worship in church again soon.

Lord our God, we pray for our world, for economic stability, for recovery from the disruption that this Coronavirus has brought. We pray for peace and justice – and for an end to racial discrimination. We remember George Floyd and his family – Lord we are sorry for our own prejudice – heal us – help us to change our society and institutions to prevent violence, death, poverty and lack of opportunity.

Lord our God, we pray for those we know who are sick. We lift those we know before you now and ask for healing and peace... Be present with those who are bereaved at this time – especially with those who cannot grieve with loved ones in funeral services together. We thank you for the selfless giving of health professionals, for their skills, patience and empathy – strengthen them in your service.

Lord our God, we thank you for musicians. Today is Royal School of Church Music Sunday – lift the spirits of all those who are making music to your glory, even in these times of separation. Thank you for all those who are singing, playing, editing, mixing, composing, teaching, encouraging and Zooming, and bless all their efforts.

Accept these prayers, our collective prayer, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Saviour.  Amen
