Intercessions - 30/08

In the power of the Spirit and in union with Christ, let us pray to the Father.

Dear Lord, we thank you for giving us your blueprint for living a sincere Christian life: living a genuine, Christian love. Please help us to live our lives using this pattern, so that we may become channels for Your love to spread throughout our communities, countries, and the whole world.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you promised through your Son Jesus Christ to hear us when we pray in faith. Strengthen John and Martinour bishops, and all your Church in the service of Christ, that those who confess your name may be united in your truth, live together in your love, and reveal your glory in the world.

Lord in your mercy  Hear our prayer

Dear Lord, we pray at this time for all the troubled areas of the world, whether they be affected by man-made disasters, or natural ones. We think especially today of all those affected by the recent flooding in the UK and other countries around the world. We pray for all those affected by Hurricane Laura in the Caribbean and Typhoon Bavi in North Korea. Please be with all those who put others before themselves by risking their lives to help in the aftermath of such catastrophic events.

Dear Lord, we also pray for all those affected either directly or indirectly by the Covid 19 virus. Whether it be those in the medical profession who are still battling this disease; those countries where the infection rates are still very high - praying that their health provision is not overwhelmed; praying for all those who are preparing to go back to school or higher education in this country, that they might have clear guidance about safe practices to remain healthy. Please help us to be kind and compassionate to those who are anxious about the strange times that we are living through.

Bless and guide Elizabeth our Queen; give wisdom to all in authority; and direct this and every nation in the ways of justice and of peace; that we may honour one another and seek the common good.

Lord in your mercy  Hear our prayer

Dear Lord, we pray for our church and the wider community of Malvern. We are so thankful that, with the easing of Lockdown, we are able to worship in our Priory church again. Be with us as we worship you and please bless all those who have made this possible in these difficult times.

We rejoice with all those who have birthdays or anniversaries this week, and we also pray for those who are unwell or convalescing.

Give grace to us, our families and friends, and to all our neighbours, that we may serve Christ in one another, and love as he loves us. Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit. Give them courage and hope in their troubles; and bring them the joy of your salvation.

Lord in your mercy  Hear our prayer

Dear Lord, we pray for those recently bereaved. Please comfort them at this sad time and sustain them with your unfailing love.

Hear us as we remember those who have died in the faith of Christ … according to your promises, grant us with them a share in your eternal kingdom. Rejoicing in the fellowship of all your saints, we commend ourselves and the whole creation to your unfailing love.

Merciful Father accept these prayers for the sake of Your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
