Good Friday

Nothing could daunt worshippers and pilgrims on Good Friday. Not even the ‘gentle’ rain that fell steadily and damply on the waterproofs and umbrellas of those who followed the Walk of Witness routes through Malvern to the Priory Churchyard.

There, with the Priory Worship Band sheltered underneath the branches of a giant fir tree, Christians of all denominations worshipped together, singing, praying, hearing the testimony of a new Christian and the word of God on this most solemn of days.

Coffee and hot cross buns which followed warmed the worshippers before they left for their own churches. The Priory’s Three Hours included thought-provoking reflections, music and poetry, culminating in Stainer’s ‘Crucifixion’ where the congregation was led by the choir and soloists as voices united in the retelling of the events of Good Friday.

The final candle of the Holy Week ring was extinguished.
