Any ideas?

The Church of England is famed for its notices. It has even been suggested that they are a legal requirement … so the Priory congregation was ready and waiting to respond when the appeal went out for ‘many hands’ to make ‘light work’ of the huge amount of equipment that needed to be moved into the church in preparation for Lifepath.

No sooner had the 10.30am service ended than an exodus headed out to the storage area, forming an orderly queue as flags and banners and curtains and poles and crates were passed out and lugged into the Priory.

A large collection of green metal poles lay, freshly-delivered, on the floor of the North Transept. Somehow, these were destined to become the structure for the individual ‘rooms’ of the Prayer Journey activity. The assembly crew placed the first pole into the base. Tick. Easy! Now which one comes next from the wide selection available? Any ideas anyone? Different sections were tested … and rejected … and tested … and so it went on … until the combined team efforts found the correct pole. Fifteen minutes later the entire structure was up, complete with voile curtains dividing the four ‘rooms’ of the Prayer Journey.

Outside another gang of good-humoured volunteers were servicing the portaloos, starting with another conundrum - identifying the correct key for each individual loo.

The herbs of the Mediaeval Medicine area were much appreciated by a visitor, and the leeches, safe in their sealed container, were admired in a way that only leeches can be admired.

As everything fell into place, the volunteers revived over tea and homemade cake, ready for the uplifting Commissioning Service, and the inspirational Reflection from Roger, the Vicar.

So all is now ready. If you’re coming to Lifepath 2025, we’re looking forward to meeting you, soon!
