VISITING THE PARISH - DOOR TO DOOR After two years, it's time to visit all the houses in the Priory parish again - this time as part of '925' year. This is about being a giving, caring church, not asking for anything in return. The visits need to be in September. Some who were at Lee Abbey have signed up but MANY MORE VISITORS are needed.
Find out more from Tony Whalley and give it a try! A planning/training day is booked in Lyttelton Well Resources Room at 7.30pm on Monday 26th July and repeated Wednesday 25th August in Prayer Room.

LOST PROPERTY LAST CHANCE! Peter Young has a selection of lost property in the vestry which will be on display in the North Aisle today. Please browse and if there is anything you recognise as yours do remove it. Any items left after today will be donated to a local charity shop.

QUIET DAY this Thursday in the Priory. Starting at 10.00am with worship and a reflection from Tony Whalley, we shall spend time in silence, meditating, reading or praying, until 2.30pm in whichever part of the Priory we prefer; if fine, the Abbey Hotel garden will be open for us as well. Bring your own packed lunch; drinks will be available. Join us for part of the day if you are not free for the whole time. Further information from June Schuil or Elizabeth Dunnett.

HIROSHIMA EXHIBITION in the Priory 27th July to 8th August - The A-Bomb & Humanity - a powerful exhibition on loan from Bradford Peace Museum.

NAMES of those in whose memory donations were given for the new CHAIRS can be seen in the display book on the shelf at the back of church.

DRINKS IN AUGUST We will again be serving soft drinks in the churchyard during Fridays in August from 12.30 to 2pm. If you are able to help on any Friday in this month please contact Rosemary Webster or Sally Taylor.

SUMMER WELCOME DAYS Every Saturday in August will be a Summer Welcome Day at the Priory. In order to give a warm welcome to our visitors we need volunteers to help serve refreshments and to help with the activities for children. If you can spare an hour on any of the Saturdays or can help by providing homemade cakes/biscuits, please telephone 01684 564500.

WALKS ON THE HILLS IN AUGUST Every Wednesday evening in August there will be a guided walk on the Hills followed by a drink at one of the local hostelries. Do come along and bring friends too. Meet in the Priory churchyard just before 7 pm with a car; lifts can be arranged on the day for those without transport. Call 01684 567640 for info.

NARINDER AND ASIAN FRIENDS from Wolverhampton will visit the Priory on Saturday 14th August arriving in time for coffee at 11am and leaving around 5pm. We provide coffee on arrival and tea at 4pm. We also act as hosts in the afternoon for a walk or drive. If you are able to help in any way by baking cakes or hosting please contact Rosemary Webster or Sally Taylor. Families are most welcome to come.

NOTES FROM PCC MEETING 15th JULY
1. Half-year Financial Review. Unrestricted reserves were seriously down and we faced a predicted deficit of around 7% (£18,000) of our budget in 2010. It was agreed that:
a) Stewardship Sunday should be scheduled for the early autumn
b) 2010 budget should be modified as follows:
· reduce the mission giving budget by £4k, retaining support for our mission partners
· reduce the Share paid by £8k to around 75% of demand
c) Wardens and Finance Group should meet the Diocesan Finance Officer to explain the Priory financial position and to seek a negotiated reduction in the Share demand.
2. Derek Valentine had agreed to be Mission Resource Officer for the Priory.
3. Trial fittings for new lighting - it was agreed these should go ahead.
4. 925 celebrations: Son et Lumiere. Preparations were going well for Light and Dark, scheduled for 2-13 November. The show will go ahead provided further grant applications are approved.
5. Authorised Lay Ministry. It was agreed unanimously to support Claire Darnborough, Chris Little and John Tanner in their authorisation as ALMs at a service at the cathedral on 12th September. The PCC agreed to endorse Peter Buckland's application to train for ALM on the evangelism module.
6. Sound System Group. An order for a replacement sound system had been placed with KEL Sound on 27th May. We would soon be in a position to ask for tenders for the construction of an oak cabinet to hold the operator's equipment.
7. Bell frame Action Group. A full survey to the tower had been carried out by Barry Johnson. The go-ahead was given for him to design an improved bell frame.

SERVICE ROTAS for August/September are in pigeonholes at the back of church.

KURT & ROSEMARY MORGAN are having their children dedicated at Abbey Road Baptist Church on Sunday 1st August at 11am. All are welcome to come along. Please feel free to drop in to the lunch after the service (noon onwards) if you can't make the service.
