The Friends of Malvern Priory
(Registered Charity No. 5O3383)
The Friends of Malvern Priory was formed in 1948 for the maintenance and further increasing the beauty and amenities of the church and churchyard. In 1949 it was registered as a charity.
The Friends are strictly non-denominational and have members, not only in Malvern district, but in many other parts of Britain and countries throughout the world.
The help which the Friends are able to give the Parochial Church Council has done much to maintain these objects of beauty and also added to the amenities of the church.
The Millennium Project has been the installation of two new stained glass windows, designed and made by Thomas Denny, to mark the start of the Third Christian Millennium. The subject is a sequence of verses from Psalm 36 of extraordinary depth, exploring facets of the very nature of God.
The project includes the cost of cleaning stonework and protective guards and, when completed, will also cover repairs to the floor under the windows.
In the past nine years the Friends have made grants in excess of £2OO,OOO to the PCC. These have covered items such as:
Repairs to stonework
Millennium project
Releading windows
Roof and gutter repairs
Safety and protection
Replace heating boiler
Roofing yard for storage
Facilities for disabled
Cleaning Organ Case
Furniture
Choir robes
Book of Remembrance
Notice boards
Sanctuary carpet
Membership is open to those who wish to help with the preservation of this important part of our heritage and traditions. If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office, see nav bar on the left.
